CITY OF FARMINGTON HILLS MAJOR ROAD PROJECTS

Eleven Mile Road Rehabilitation Project (Farmington Road to Orchard Lake Road)

  • This project is complete and open to traffic.

GREAT LAKES WATER AUTHORITY PROJECT (GLWA)

14 Mile Watermain Loop Project (Citywide, primarily along the Haggerty Road/I-275 corridor)

  • This project is substantially complete.  

ROAD COMMISSION FOR OAKLAND COUNTY (RCOC)

Middlebelt Culvert Project (North of Nine Mile Road)

  • This project is substantially complete and open to traffic

MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (MDOT)

I-696 (I-275 to Lahser Road) 

    • This $275 million project includes rebuilding the roadway from the base up, storm sewer replacement work, overpass rehabilitation and rebuilding ramps at Orchard Lake Road, American Drive, Franklin Road, M-10 (Northwestern Highway), and US-24 (Telegraph Road).
    • Work is expected to be substantially completed by 12/1/2024 and is currently estimated to be 94% complete.
    • Two lanes of traffic have been restored for westbound and eastbound I-696 at this time and most ramps have been reopened with the exception of northbound US-24 to northbound M-10.  There will be intermittent shoulder and lane closures likely through the end of the year.  There may be remaining punch list items and restoration work to be completed in the spring of 2025.
